Camera Project

We find that many NICUs, maternity wards and social work departments have cameras that aren't great, and often due to urgency or location, these cameras provide the only images a family have of their child.

We wanted to make a difference in this area for a while, starting with the kind generosity of a family that used our services as well as the generosity of their extended family and friends.  With this program we gift to a hospital a quality compact camera, small printer and an inservice presentation/workshop from a Heartfelt member about how to take better photos for families.

Thank you to the family of Emerikus Land for making the first batch of kits possible.

If you would like to contribute a kit in memory of your child you can do so either via our donations page or you may wish to create a fundraising page, the current kit price is $860. 
Each kit includes;
  • Quality compact camera (engraved) chosen for its ability to work in low light situations and to work closeup.
  • A compact printer that can be taken into the room so families can be given a print straight away.
  • Paper and ink supplies
  • Camera case
  • USB of Heartfelt Videos 
  • Access to Heartfelt video tutorials on Vimeo
Additional ink and paper supplies are available from officeworks and ted's camera stores.

We have a A4 tip sheet for staff to assist them taking photos of families in their care. Click here to download the file.

Please note, we will do everything we can to accommodate requests from donors but we can't promise which hospitals the equipment will go to. Just like how Heartfelt operates, we love the idea the gift is given to a stranger somewhere in the country where there is a need.
Our decision to send a camera to a certain hospital is determined by many factors such as number of births, how well the hospital is serviced by a Heartfelt members, location and the current condition of the hospital's equipment.

Also, equipment type may change as we endeavour to bring the price per unit down.

If you wish to nominate a hospital to receive a kit, please email president@heartfelt.org.au answering the following information and including your contact details.

If you are a parent:
  • Why do you want this hospital to be given a camera?
  • Do you have a contact at the hospital? (it is you fine if you don't, it is just a starting point for us to discuss the project with the hospital)
If you are a staff member at a hospital:
  • Why do you want this hospital to be given a camera?
  • Who will be responsible for the camera if donated?
  • Does the request have the support of hospital administration and are their any protocols or policies to consider?
  • Are there any issues with ongoing costs of consumables (prints and ink) being covered by the hospital?
  • (Packets of 108 sheets of 6x4inch printing paper and and ink cartridge are available from office works at this link for approx $46)
  • Will procedures be created to give staff 24hr access to the kit?
  • What is the delivery address?

Image Processing
Heartfelt can process and deliver the images taken by hospital staff for circumstances that are in the Heartfelt guidelines. 

Images can be sent to Heartfelt (up to approx 30 images) using a service such as www.wetransfer.com sent to president@heartfelt.org.au or posted on a USB to (please ensure copies are kept at the hospital);
